VEGAS's Story
01/16/26 Eager and friendly in the kennel, he’s easy to take out and return. High-energy but well-mannered—he loves to play fetch, chase squeaky toys, and even take the ball to the pool! He knows “sit” and enjoys interactive play more than treats, as he has a low food drive. While he may bark at some strangers, he greets many with a full-body wag. Great in playgroups, he’s ready to meet someone who can match his playful, fun-loving energy! 01/04/26 What did we do on today’s adventure:
The sun was shining, and Vegas was ready to roll! From the moment
we hit the trail at Jeffrey Fontana Park, his energy was contagious.
With every step of our 4-mile hike, Vegas bounced along like the
happiest explorer, always checking back with me as if to say, “You
good? Let’s keep going!”
Vegas is the ultimate good boy—polite, eager, and full of personality.
He knows his manners, sitting like a champ for treats and even
throwing in a wave or high five without being asked. It’s hard not to
smile when a dog greets you like that!
Of course, Vegas has a little wild side too. Lizards and squirrels?
Let’s just say they keep him on his toes! And when excitement hits,
this guy shows off his high-jumping skills like an athlete going for
gold. It’s pure joy to watch.
By the time we wrapped up our hike, Vegas was still wagging, still
smiling, and still ready for more. Spending time with him is like
hanging out with your best friend—fun, loyal, and full of heart. What should potential adopters know about me:
I had the absolute pleasure of taking Vegas out for a walk, and wow;
what an experience! From the moment we started our hike at Jeffrey
Fontana Park, Vegas was all about adventure. He’s got this amazing
energy that makes you smile, but what really impressed me was how
attentive he is. Throughout our 4-mile trek, he kept checking back
with me as if to say, “Let’s keep going together!” That kind of
connection is rare and so special.
Vegas is smart and polite—he knows how to sit like a pro and even
throws in a wave or high five without being asked. It’s the cutest
thing! He’s treat-motivated, which makes training a breeze, and he
clearly loves learning.
Now, he does have a playful side—lizards and squirrels definitely
catch his eye—but it’s all part of his adventurous spirit. And when
he’s excited? Get ready for some impressive high jumps! He’s
athletic, fun, and full of personality.
Spending time with Vegas felt like hanging out with a best friend
who’s loyal, loving, and ready for anything. If you’re looking for a
dog who will bring joy, laughter, and companionship into your life,
Vegas is your guy. He’s ready for his forever home—and trust me,
whoever adopts him is in for something truly special.
Three words to describe me: Energetic, Curious, Loving 12/12/25 17:49 Meet Vegas, a 1 year old 66 pound male American Pit Bull Terrier. Vegas is a sweet boy who is very people friendly, attaches quickly, rides well in the car and walks well on leash. He checks in on his humans quite often and is an expert critter tracker, make sure you have a good hold on the leash if you are anywhere near lizards or squirrels! This sweet boy would love a family who will take him on great adventures, after a 5 mile hike he still had plenty of energy! 11/04/25 What did we do on today’s adventure: I got to spend time with 2
new friends! I was soooo excited for my first outing from the shelter
that I showed off all my wiggles! We went for a long walk on a trail
and I made sure my new friends saw all the lizards and squirrels that
I saw, no one let me catch them though. We also saw lots of
people and bikes and other dogs. I like other dogs, but I was more
interested in continuing my sniffies and walking. I really liked my
new friends and kept a close eye on them while we walked – one of
my friends walked further ahead and I did get a little worried, but
she came back! After the walk we rode in the car again and I got in
some good relaxing time before I went back to the kennel.
What should potential adopters know about me: Vegas is a sweet boy
who is very people friendly, attaches quickly, rides well in the car and
walks well on leash. He checks in on his humans quite often and was
concerned when he could not see both of us. Vegas is an expert
critter tracker – make sure you have a good hold on the leash if you
are anywhere near lizards or squirrels! In the car, he was very easy –
jumped right in was easy to clip int the seatbelt and he sat nicely for
the ride. This sweet boy would love a family who will take him on
great adventures – after a 5 mile hike he still had plenty of energy!
Three words to describe me: Happy – Energetic - Silly 09/23/25 09:27 Vegas was showing high fas in kennel, boucing off walls and against kennel door, barking. He is currently on behavior medications and has shown improvement with his kennel anxiety on medications. Needs rescue. Able to remove kennel without issues, allows invasive handling and examination - much of fearfullnes is kennel/barrier associated.
