Val's Story

Meet Val/Valerie

I decided to name this girl Valerie because it means "to be strong." This girl most definitely is for what all she has been through, yet somehow she is still so loving and sweet. Animals never cease to amaze me, how they can be so let down by humans but still find it in their heart to love endlessly. This girl story starts out as a sad one. Our officers received a call for a wellness check on a dog thought to be abandoned in a home. When they arrived they find a starving Val that had been standing in a 2 foot x 3 foot wire kennel full of her pee and poop where she was believed to been left for at least 2 weeks. To make matters worse she had also been in there with her brother who had unfortunately had passed away. When she came into the shelter she was skin and bones, her face sad with the look of abandonment and loss of hope. Within a few short days, multiple baths, and a lot of yummy food Val is starting to become the puppy she is meant to be. Although the stained feet might still tell her story we are working hard to help her put that nightmare of a chapter behind her and give her the life she deserves. Although she is still a little nervous at first she quickly gets excited with a few treats or a baby talk. Val is 1-2 years old up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and will be scheduled for spay as soon as she is at a healthy weight.
