Uriah's Story
The name URIAH means "my light," and this boy deserves nothing more than to be treated as such. His story breaks our hearts - he was first spotted running in Elkland in November, but no one could contain him. Over and over, his photo or description would pop up on community Facebook pages as running at large. Was he just escaping his yard and going for a joy run? Or was he truly homeless and surviving in his own out in the cold? No one seemed to know. And no one could coax him to them, until a local volunteer rescuer stepped in. She staked out his hang out spots for nearly a month before he finally gave in to the feast in her trap. Uriah surprised us by immediately being friendly, playful and in good condition! When he got to the shelter, he immediately flopped over for belly rubs, as if he was relieved to finally be safe. We sadly learned that he and a small dog he was originally running with (who came to us and was adopted) may have been purposely let out of their home to make room for a new puppy. Uriah deserves so much more.

Uriah is a mixed breed boy who we estimate at around 2 years old. He loves people and does need some training to redirect his enthusiastic greetings. But this boy is SUCH a lover. He enjoys playing, running, rolling around happily on his back, snuggling and giving kisses. He is joy encapsulated. He will be someone's bestest buddy and is up for anything. He's very good and playful with dogs his size, and previously lived with a smaller dog. With cats, he's curious and friendly when up close, but would probably chase them if they ran. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Uriah IS light. He's the goodness in this world that sometimes seems so dark. He just needs someone to show him that in return.

Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open.
