Uno's Story
Meet Uno!

Last November, we answered a desperate plea from one of our local animal controls who was full and facing having to make impossible decisions for space. Uno was one of their longest residents and such a sweetheart, so it was easy to say yes to pulling him!

When he first arrived, Uno he was afraid of being anywhere but his kennel, as that is basically all he has ever known: walks were scary, passing cars were scary, pretty much anything outside of the shelter walls was scary for Uno. He has been in shelters over half of his life, during so many formative months, so his fear is completely understandable.

We have worked hard on building up Uno's confidence, but we are now starting to see some delayed puppy behavior, particularly mouthiness. Uno needs an adopter willing to make training his foundation and set clear boundaries, so he has the opportunity to be his best self. He is a giant 60# puppy, but we know he is worth the work! He has had training with a muzzle to help keep everyone safe as he learns. He’s eager to learn!
Uno has made several dog friends while at the shelter! He would love to have a doggie sibling that can handle his high energy and puppy antics. He would do best in a home with older kids only or no kids. He LOVES toys, and it is adorable watching him toss them in the air and romp around with them. He keeps a clean kennel during the day while he continues working on potty training.

Uno is a vets dream!! With a little bit of cheese and a whole lot of good boys uno sits perfectly with his leg held up ready to donate his blood to save his kitty friends! Thanks to the guidance of our partnering vets we are able to use blood serum to save cats eyes from ulcers.

Despite his handsome looks and personality in the lab he sometimes doesn’t make the most handsome decisions outside of the lab he can be very mouthy and jumpy trying to push your buttons he is just a puppy in a BIG dog body! With some guidance from a professional trainer he will be, and is, the bestest boy.

Male
1 year
Mixed Breed, Large
59 lbs (currently)

---------------------------------------------------
Hours: 11am-4pm each day
No appointments required

Disclaimer: Please only use our website (https://www.hshobart.org/adopt/adoptable-animals) to apply for pets.
