Intake Date: 6 June 2022 ---- Adopted 20 June 2022 ----- Returned to Rescue: 1 December 2022 ------ Adopted: 22 April 2023 ------ Returned to Rescue: 6 Jan 2024----- Age at original intake: 7 months ----- Breed: Dutch shepherd mix ----- Size: 45 lbs ----- Status: owner surrender ----- Compatible with: dogs, children. Havent cat tested ----- Suitable for: home with a securely fenced yard. ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: None noted. Higher energy, incredibly intelligent ----- Additional Notes: Welcome Ulter!! This incredibly striking boy is one of my favorite and will always be. He is STUNNING and so so smart. Too smart for 90% of pet owners. And his story is a long one filled with abandonment and disappointment. Ulter came to rescue when his time expired at the pound after his owner abandoned him. He then was adopted from FBS and returned months later for chewing and resource guarding (he was a puppy). He was a total gem here with no real issues aside from destroying his blanket but bc we knew he was one smart cookie and with the return on his record, we spend hundreds and sent him to a board and train. He THRIVED. The training staff fell in love with him and he came back to rescue such a gentleman. He was then adopted again to a single male ( we are always hesitant to do that bc the success rate long term is like 5%) but it seemed to go well. Ulter came back regularly for boarding and was a delight for us every time. But suddenly he was returned again bc he was bonded strongly with his owner (typical shepherd trait) and getting anxious when left alone resulting in crating and feeling guilty about crating. Crating is NOT A BAD THING. We encourage it! We are devastated for Ulter. We know how excited he was each time his owner came to pick him back up from boarding. It really is sad. Ulter is an AMAZING dog. He deserves a committed FOREVER home that will not let his talent and intelligence go to waste. This dog could really go places. He is an athletic and incredibly smart dog. Flyback? Agility? Dock diving? Running? Biking? Hiking? He would be incredible at it all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption is finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are not guaranteed but often a best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. If a yard is present, a secure fence is mandatory.
