Tyson's Story

? FOREVER HOME NEEDED! ?

Remember Tyson? This sweet boy is still waiting for his forever family. ?? He’s currently in a foster home, and thanks to his amazing foster mom Joanna, we’ve learned so much about what kind of home would be perfect for him!

Here’s what Joanna has to say about Tyson:

? “Tyson is such a good boy! He knows ‘sit’ and ‘stay,’ and listens when I tell him to go to his bed or come here. He’s completely house-trained — even if I’m gone a full workday, there are never any accidents!

He doesn’t need a crate — he’s perfectly content snoozing on the couch until you get home.

He’s friendly with other dogs he meets on walks (though he’s still figuring out the leash ?). He just needs a gentle reminder now and then about who’s in charge.

He can be a little nervous at first, but he’s not reactive — he just wants hugs and cuddles from everyone he meets.

I wouldn’t recommend a home with small animals — he has a strong instinct to chase squirrels.

He’s a quiet boy overall, rarely barks, and mostly makes little playful growls when he’s playing tug of war with my dog, Nina.

He loves his toys (especially durable ones — he’s a toy destroyer! ?) and enjoys his chew time, too.

But most of all, Tyson loves to snuggle and be close to his people. He just wants love, attention, and time to play outside.”

? Tyson is ready to find a family who will give him the love he deserves.

The North Fork Animal Welfare League's Adoption Policy
SELECTING THE RIGHT COMPANION ANIMAL Love at first sight! This is how our new companions usually get chosen. Thoughtful consideration must also be taken. Some dogs need lots of room to run. If you do not already have a fenced in yard, consider the cost of a suitable fence. If a fence is not possible do you have time for long walks? Long haired animals need a lot of brushing. Do you have time for this? Some may also require professional grooming. Can you pay for this? Younger animals will need training, which will involve substantial investments of both time and money. Please also consider who will be sharing your home with your new companion. A home with elderly people may not be the right fit for a large, high energy dog. A home with very young children may not be the right fit for very young puppies or kittens. Do you have other pets in your home? We test our shelter animals for general compatibility but recommend that if you have existing pets a “meet and greet” be set
