Ty's Story

Say hello to beautiful and sweet Ty! He's a very good boy who is 14 months old and fully grown at 50 pounds. He has the most beautiful and soft golden coat and we think he's a Shepherd mix & wouldn't be surprised if there's some Australian Shepherd in their because his coat is luxurious. His size makes him ideal for a family looking for a medium sized pup.

Ty is living with a awesome Foster Dad and 3 other pups and it's a happy party every day. He LOVES to play with other dogs and one of his Foster Dad's dog is a female Pittie who doesn't like anyone but happens to just love Ty! You can see the big smile on his face in his pics. :) Ty can be a little shy when you first meet him but warms up quickly and gives you his whole heart. We loves going for car rides and has been on long trips & done great. We think he'd thrive in a suburban home with a fenced in yard so he can play to his heart's content. He'd love a doggie sibling to play with but could also be very happy with an active family. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, house-trained and crate-trained. In other words, he's perfect and so ready for his his happy Forever home! Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com OR call 516-459-3509) to find out lots more about him.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
