Twiggy's Story
Meet Twiggy!

This pup has been in foster since the beginning of November gaining weight. She is now back at the shelter.

She came in very emaciated. She has gained some weight, but is still not where she should be. We don't know why she is not putting on weight as normal, but have ruled out several things. Her foster-to-adopt would need to be prepared to continue to work with the shelter and their partner vet to help her get to a healthy weight.

According to her foster:
"Twiggy is a confident, agile, affectionate, and playful puppy. Her three favorite things are laps, tug toys, and high value chews. She has done well with kids and other dogs. She is working on potty training, but not fully there -- the main thing standing in her way is her strong aversion to being cold. She does well in a crate overnight and during the day when no one is able to supervise her.
If you're looking for a snow bunny, Twiggy is not it. She's like a Sphynx cat -- not at all equipped for a mid-west winter, but incredibly affectionate as she seeks body heat.
Twiggy is very smart and driven to train. She has begun to learn a number of tricks, including: "sit", "down" (she needs a blanket under her because the floor is cold), "spin", "touch" (hand-target), "stand", "on" and "off". She has had foundational training with a collar and leash as well as in husbandry (nails, ears, teeth, getting clothes on and off).
She has started teething, but isn't overly mouthy and takes correction well. She does need things to chew on.
All in all, anyone would be lucky to have Twiggy by their side for the rest of her life!"

Female
Mixed Breed Small (or the small side of medium)
4 1/2 months

Origin Story:
Extremely emaciated, female pup brought to the shelter in the evening of 11-7-25
Found "off Broadway".
