Tux's Story

Meet Tux, a five and a half year old Pit/Border Collie mix weighing around 75 pounds.

Tux is a happy, lovable boy who’s still searching for his true forever home. He was originally owner surrendered because his family didn’t have enough time for him. He was briefly adopted, but sadly returned—not for anything he did, but because the adopters were uncomfortable with the way he looked at their cats. He never went after them but he might do best in a home with no small critters.

What you’ll notice right away about Tux is the way he looks at you like you’re the best person in the world—paired with a great, goofy smile that’s impossible to resist. He knows the command "sit," loves treats (just keep an eye on your fingers, as he’s still learning to take them gently), and truly enjoys getting out for walks.

Tux can be a little excited on leash at first and may pull while he gets his wiggles out, but once he settles in, he does great. With consistent training and structure, Tux has all the potential to be a wonderful companion.

He’s ready for a home that will give him the time, patience, and commitment he’s been waiting for—and in return, Tux will give you his whole heart.
This pet is available for adoption on 8/13/2025 at 12:58 PM at the Yakima Humane Society.

Ready to adopt?
