Turkey's Story

Meet Turkey — Your Golden Boy! This 3-year-old Yellow Lab mix is as warm and golden as a freshly baked Thanksgiving turkey — and he’s ready to bring love, joy, and plenty of tail wags to his forever family just in time for the holidays!

Turkey (or Turk for short) weighs about 75 lbs and is the perfect mix of loyal companion and happy-go-lucky goofball. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative — fully ready to head home with his new family.

Originally found as a stray in Dallas with an injured hip, Turk’s resilience shines through. Thankfully, no surgery was needed, and he’s made a full recovery. Now, he’s back to doing what he loves best — frolicking, smiling, and soaking up affection. His recall is excellent, and he’s happiest just hanging out near his people, soaking in the love and giving it right back.

Turk is house trained, potty trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. He enjoys car rides, strolls, and quiet time by your side. He’s also a great home companion — alert enough to let you know if someone’s around, but calm and quiet otherwise.

He can get a little scared during storms, but all he needs then is the comfort of his humans to remind him he’s safe.

Turkey is everything we love about Labs — loyal, loving, joyful, and endlessly devoted. If you’re ready to welcome a golden-hearted boy into your life, apply to meet Turk at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Turkey's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.

Code Red Animal Project Inc.'s Adoption Policy
All of our adoptions are foster-to-adopt, giving adopters the opportunity to have a trial period. We firmly believe that it is impossible to know if a pet will be a good fit for your home based on a brief encounter. A trial period allows you to see the pet in your home as they decompress and find comfort, and introduce them to different situations and settings that are important in your life. Prior to finalizing adoption, we ask that the pet be seen by your vet so that your trusted veterinary team can assess the animal's health, note vaccination records, and prescribe 6-12 months of heartworm prevention (for dogs).
