Tucker's Story
Tucker is a 3-4 yo pup with a storied past. After being abandoned in Soap Lake, Tucker took to the streets looking for anyone who would take him in. He happened upon a kind family, let himself into their yard, and decided he wouldn’t be leaving. Unable to find another safe option for Tucker, the family took him in and has given him the care he deserves, getting him neutered and up to date on vaccines, working on kennel training and leash manners, and offering him an enriched life with lots of toys and love. Unfortunately however, Tucker does not do well with the established dogs, livestock, and cats in the household, and he deserves a home where he can be the focus.

Tucker is by and large a good citizen in his home. He is not destructive, he doesn’t get on furniture or counters, he rests calmly in a kennel, is not an incessant barker, never has accidents in the house, usually comes when called, and hops right in the car for trips. A perfect day for Tucker would include lots of love and affection from his human, time to run and play, and a good game of fetch. However, even on days where he can’t have all of these needs met, you can still expect the same pleasant and non-destructive demeanor he is known for.

We will never know everything Tucker went through before ending up somewhere that cared, but we do believe he has had a few bad experiences to explain a couple of quirks that he comes with. Tucker is very fearful of loud noises like fireworks and thunder. He can also be suspicious of new types of flooring until he knows they are safe. Tucker is a very big and agile boy, who is capable of jumping a 4.5 ft fence and he is still learning his leash manners. He has a very strong prey drive, and would not be suitable for a household with cats, small dogs, or access to livestock animals. Tucker is not inherently aggressive towards other dogs, but he is a dominant personality and will resource guard against other dogs when provoked. He has done very well with other submissive type dogs, but we would recommend he find a home where he is the only dog unless one feels very comfortable with behavioral management. Tucker does not have experience around children, but has been very loving towards every adult that has entered this new phase of his life. If left in the yard, Tucker will bark at new arrivals until he has been assured that they are safe.

Tucker has had a checkup at the vet and has no active medical conditions. Tucker currently takes anxiety medication to help with his experiences with the other dogs in the household; he may not require this in the future in a single dog household.

Tucker is a truly sweet boy, and we know he would make an amazing companion in the right home!
