Tucker's Story
Tucker is a 4 yr old, 51# Snow Lab (or mix) who needs a loving home. He came into our program on May 24 - he was found as a stray & brought to an out-state, overcrowded Shelter, then transported to MN.
Somewhere in his past, Tucker was hit by a vehicle and had a broken ankle & hip. We don't know any of the details but he was examined by a Vet & multiple xrays were taken, his injuries had apparently completely healed up quite well on their own and the Vet said no further surgeries were deemed necessary. Also, additional surgery would be a very invasive surgery to re-break & repair those old injuries. Tucker gets along very well although he may occasionally show a slight limp but overall you would never guess that he was badly injured some years ago.

Tucker is a delightful dog and a most considerate house guest. He is a happy-go-lucky, loving dog with the sweetest, eager to please demeanor . He loves other dogs, is great with cats, very respectful of their space, and never met a human he didn't like. Tucker has been sweet and gentle with the children he has been around. He is friendly and outgoing. Tucker hasn't had any prior training but he quickly learned "leave it" and "no speak." We are currently working on "off" because he does like to counter surf. He is house trained, a good eater, and only barks when someone comes on the porch or lingers in the yard, and then only to alert, not as a nuisance barker. Whoever adopts him are in for a real treat with this beautiful, sweet boy.
If you are looking for a jogging companion or long distance hiking companion, Tucker is probably not the right dog for you but he does enjoy going for walks & hanging out with his family. The previous foster took him for daily walks & he loves seeing & smelling the outside world. Tucker would love someone who's home most of the time. Because he's working on regaining muscle mass from his previous injuries, he'd love to have fewer steps to climb in the home, minimal crating, and continued therapy for a while yet. He will chew things he's not supposed to, but learns fast, wants to please, and would be a great candidate for obedience training. According to his foster, Tucker is loving and snuggly and quiet.
Tucker is neutered, and is current on distemper, rabies, and bordetella vaccinations. His heartworm test was positive, and treatment (including a month of rest) was done. A recheck of this test will be done in 1-2 months to make sure it is negative again. His adoption fee will be $350 , and he sounds like a super dog. Call 651-771-5662 if you have questions, or are interested in adopting this sweet boy.
