Tucker's Story

Meet Tucker - A Sweet, Energetic Heeler Mix Ready to Learn

Tucker is a 3-year-old Heeler mix who came to us as a stray and was sadly never reclaimed. He's a sweet boy who can be a little shy and hesitant when first meeting new people, but give him a few minutes and he's more than willing to come over and say hello.

Once Tucker warms up, his friendly personality and hidden energy really start to show. He's treat-motivated and already knows how to sit, though he's still working on his manners - he can get a little too excited for treats, so watch your fingers! With some basic training and consistency, this smart boy has lots of potential.

Tucker showed strong interest in a small dog while in staff care, and it was unclear whether this was playful curiosity or something more intense. Because of his excitement level and energy, we recommend a home without small children and with an adopter who can help him channel his enthusiasm in positive ways. Tuckers has played in both small groups and large groups of similarly sized dogs. He plays with a lot of energy and while no aggression is noted, he's a verbal dog. Sometimes his excitement and barking can make another dog unsure of what his intent is, but only positive and appropriate play has been noted from Tucker during group play time.

Overall, Tucker is a sweet, friendly dog who will thrive with someone willing to give him structure, guidance, and time to settle in. If you're looking for a loyal companion with energy to spare and a heart ready to bond, Tucker might be the one for you.
