Truman's Story
Truman is estimated to be around 4-5 years old, but you wouldn't know it when meeting him! He is the happiest boy and has a lot of puppy energy left to share. He's a short, stocky little guy with a lot of muscle, weighing 45 pounds. Truman was unfortunately part of a puppy mill operation, and it is believed that he lived his whole life locked in a kennel until 2023, when he was dropped off at a shelter, starving and shut down. Truman has come such a long way to learn to trust, and he LOVES people. He knows basic commands such as "sit," "down," and "wait." He is completely house-trained and happy in his crate at night and when we aren't home. He is eager to please and very food motivated.

Truman is a little wild guy, but he also loves snuggling on the couch and giving kisses. Nothing makes him happier than a new toy. Because of Truman's history, he needs a lot of training to learn to increase his tolerance for new situations and people. While he is not aggressive in the least, every new situation is either way too exciting or terrifying to him. When he is overstimulated, he will jump up and completely forget his manners.

We are devastated to make this decision, but we've realized we do not have the capacity to give Truman what he needs now that we have a baby, who is very overstimulating for him. Truman is such a special boy, and he deserves a special person who will help him reach his full potential.

Truman is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.
