Tropic's Story

Tropic has spent more than 500 days moving between the shelter and various foster homes, and while each one has helped her survive, what she truly needs now is a place to finally stay. Her most recent foster may have saved her life, but Tropic is ready for a family who will love her with permanence, not just for a chapter.

Through everything, her gentle, people-loving heart has never dimmed. Tropic is a snuggly, easygoing, water-loving companion who sleeps curled up with her foster dad’s shoes and greets him after work by placing his walking shoes on the couch as her way of saying it’s time for their walk. While in foster care, she's shown herself to be house-trained, non-destructive when left alone, and happiest either relaxing beside you or splashing in the pool.

Tropic has been overlooked for far too long, and she is ready for the right match. She needs an adults-only home with no other pets and adopters who will continue helping her improve on leash. In return, you’ll gain a loyal shadow, a clever and eager learner, and a ball-chasing, water-splashing adventure buddy who is long overdue for peace. Tropic is waiting to meet the person who will finally make her feel at home.

All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered (or scheduled), vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home today! No pre-application or appointment needed—just bring a valid ID and walk in. Our adoption fees are among the lowest in Cincinnati!

To meet our animals, visit our Northside shelters any day from 1–6pm. If listed as foster, email foster@cincycare.org to schedule a meet and greet. Adopting an adult dog with resident dogs or kids at home?
