Trixie - Fostered in SE Nebraska's Story
TRIXIE IS ACCEPTING PETS! And that's huge.

When Trixie arrived six weeks ago, she wanted so badly to connect—she just didn't know how. At first, she couldn't be touched at all. But within a week, she began inventing her own brave little routine: prancing just out of reach, darting in for a quick pet, then bouncing away again like she needed to recharge her courage.

By mid-April, something clicked—Trixie started accepting pets... and even asking for them. She's learning how to be a dog, and it's a beautiful thing to watch.

Trixie will still need patience and gentle reassurance. She's the kind of dog who forms a deep, meaningful bond, and the family who earns her trust will get to experience something really special—watching her blossom into the confident, loving companion she's meant to be. (Video available on request!)

Trixie weighs about 19 pounds and is estimated to be 1–2 years old. She's mostly white with beautiful chocolate patches and striking amber eyes. We think she's part beagle and part Border Collie—she has the alert, intelligent expression and fluffy tail of a Border Collie, paired with the cheerful, goofy personality of a beagle.

She gets along well with other dogs but hasn't been around kids or cats yet. Her potty training is coming along nicely, and she uses a dog door. She's just starting crate training and learning how to walk on a leash.

Trixie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She's currently fostered in southeast Nebraska (about halfway between Omaha and Kansas City), and her foster is willing to travel to meet the right family. If interested in adopting Trixie, please fill out the application at www.bassetandbeagle.org. Her adoption fee is $400
