Meet Trina Updated Dec 2015

Update 12/15 - Trina was adopted and went to a family with children. She did absolutely wonderful with the children and became a treasured family addition. She was left on her own for short period of times and fine. The family had to move and their new place would not allow dogs. They were very sad to have to bring her back. They hope Trina will find another loving family especially one that has children.

U15pdate 3-1-15 Trina went to an offsite adoption event and did wonderful. Her foster family described Trina as a very loveable girl that loves to cuddle, sleep in, car rides, food left hidden under the car seat, good in hotel rooms, chew bones, tug a war and to run!! Trina has a lot of energy and loves to run but settles down very nicely. She is patient and loves all kinds of people big or little. They were able to leave her home alone with no issues so we believe her separation issues is a new development since recovering from her surgery in foster care. This is something can be worked with. Trina definitely does not like crates and will panic so would do best if she is not crated. She is a great girl that shows who she really is away from the shelter. Trina will make a great family addition especially for one that likes to be on the go and take her with.

UPDATE 2-8-15: Trina was adopted for a brief time but sadly she was returned to the shelter due to some separation anxiety. Trina has been through a lot over the past several months, going through surgery, recovering at a wonderful foster home, and then returning to the shelter, so she certainly must feel very unsure and anxious. We are looking for the perfect new home for her. She needs someone who can give her a chance to feel comfortable and safe again! Trina's adoption fee is just $75!

UPDATE FROM TRINA'S FOSTER FAMILY 11-5-14: Trina is almost 4 weeks post- op. We adore her! She has been so patient with her home therapy even though it is sometimes painful. She has been great with people, even strangers – she helped greet trick or treaters at the door – loves our neighborhood kids, and she double loves car rides! Short or long. She has done some traveling with us and has done well in each setting. Its obvious to us that Trina does NOT like other dogs and she has not done well with other dogs while at the shelter, so she will need to be the only pet in the home. We believe she will do very well with a family with kids. Her ears perk up when she hears kids playing. I know she can’t wait to get out and play like a dog. She really would love to be a part of a family! She has been such a good dog. We have had no problems with leaving her for a couple of hours at a time. Please consider welcoming Trina into your home. P.S. She is a HUGE cuddle bug! Please call her foster family if you would like to meet Trina, their number is 810-923-8471.

UPDATE 10-08-14: Trina's ACL surgery went well and she is now in recovery. She will be spending the night with Animal Welfare Manager Alex so she can have around the clock care. We are looking for a foster to help care for Trina as she recovers so she can be in a calm environment for her healing. All expenses paid by the shelter. If anyone thinks they are a suitable candidate please contact the shelter to get an application. Wishing Trina a fast recovery! Donations are still needed to help pay for Trina's surgery, thank you to every one who has donated so far!! Hugs and kisses from Trina!

UPDATE 08-01-14: Trina needs surgery for a torn ACL and we are trying to raise funds to cover the $2,000 cost! It turns out Trina was hit by a car before being relinquished to the shelter. Any donation, big or small, is very much appreciated! If you can help Trina with the cost of her surgery, please mail your donation to us at PO Box 144, Manistee, MI 49660. THANK YOU from our super sweet Trina and from all of us at Homeward Bound!

UPDATE 07-01-14: Trina can be adopted for $55 thanks to some friends of hers who have sponsored most of her adoption fee! Trina needs to be part of a family, she has been at the shelter much too long so we are offering a reduced adoption fee to the perfect new friend or family for Trina. She is a super sweet, low key, low maintenance girl who loves to take leisurely walks and then would love to curl up with you on the couch. She has a bit of arthritis in her back hip and is on supplements which seems to be helping. Please stop in soon and meet our sweet, sweet Trina!

ORIGINAL BIO:

Trina was owner relinquished in January of 2014. She is white in color with a tan mask and she is around 5-6 years old. She was adopted several years ago from Homeward Bound but sadly her home life has changed and Trina finds herself back at the shelter (her owners moved and could not take Trina with them). Her previous family described Trina as being excellent with kids and strangers, housebroken, likes cats, other dogs and car rides. The only fault they could find was that she does not like to be left alone for very long. If you have room in your heart and home, Trina would love to be a part of a family once again!

We spay/neuter ALL of our pets prior to being adopted, so we ask that you call ahead to make sure the pet you are interested in is able to "come out and play" and is available for adoption!  Our number is 231-723-7387.

If you would like to meet one of our pets, please visit us during adoption hours: Wednesday from noon until 6:00; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from noon until 4:00.
If you would like more information on a pet, please call us at 231-723-7387 during the adoption hours listed above. We can also provide a limited amount of information by e-mail.
Please note that ALL of our pets are spayed/neutered BEFORE they leave the shelter!  We designate all of our pets as being spayed or neutered in their posting, but please check with the shelter to see if your particular favorite is actually ready to go home with you!  Depending on scheduling, it sometimes takes a few weeks to get a pet fixed.
The adoption fee for a neutered MALE dog or puppy is $125. The adoption fee for a spayed FEMALE dog or puppy is $150.
We only accept cash or checks at this time (no credit or debit cards). We usually update petfinder once a week. That means some of the pets we have listed may have already been adopted. That also means we almost always have other pets available that are not listed on petfinder yet.
