Trifle's Story

Name: Trifle
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Mixed
Weight: 49.9 lbs

Trifle is a HIGH-energy, puppy-like boy who has one speed: GO! This guy has a ton of energy to burn and is looking for a home that can keep up with him and help him learn how to channel all that enthusiasm into good behavior.

Trifle is extremely food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for training. He already knows how to sit and shake — now he just needs to work on responding a little better when he’s asked! He’s a smart boy who clearly has the potential to learn with consistency and positive reinforcement.

Trifle can be pretty mouthy with both toys and treats, so fair warning: if you’re holding a treat, he may decide you’ve waited long enough and take it upon himself to grab it for you! For now, we recommend tossing treats on the ground rather than hand-feeding. He also escalates quickly when playing with toys, so his people will need to be comfortable tossing toys for him rather than trying to take them directly from him.

He is friendly with humans and has had no issues going in or out of his kennel. He loves attention and tends to jump up for lovins, so we’re continually reminding him that four paws on the floor is the way to go.

Because of Trifle’s size, energy level, and tendency to jump and get mouthy, we feel he would do best in a home without children. A young child could easily be knocked over, and children may not understand the importance of tossing his toys and treats rather than reaching in to take them.

We are still learning about Trifle’s interactions with other dogs, so we don’t currently know how he feels about canine roommates. A proper introduction would be important for any potential dog sibling.

Trifle is going to need an active home that is ready to provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, structure, and training. He has A LOT of energy to burn, but underneath all that chaos is a sweet, friendly boy who has so much potential. If you’re looking for a fun, goofy project dog who will keep you laughing and keep you moving, Trifle may be your guy!

If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate boy with plenty of personality, Trifle might be your guy!

Adoption questionnaire & information: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-questionnaire
