Trapper's Story

Hi, my name is Trapper! I am a 3 year old handsome male who was brought to Coastal in June of 2023. It’s taken me a while to adjust to life at the ranch as my time prior was spent in a small kennel at a kill shelter, I had no idea that dogs could walk around in the open with people! When I started living at the ranch I so badly wanted to play with people and other dogs, but was so anxious and wasn’t sure exactly how to play. All of my volunteer friends have been doing an amazing job at not only working with me physically with walks, obstacles and toys but mentally as well with commands. I LOVE getting my commands right for my volunteer friends and making them happy! I spent a lot of time watching all the other dogs play and run and recently I was able to make some 4 legged friends of my own! My newest best friend, and my biggest admirer is Phoebe who is a young female shepherd!

My perfect furever family would need to be someone who knows “German Shepherds” and who has the time and patience to work with me physically and mentally. I would love to be adopted by someone who can play fetch, run, practice obstacles and work on my commands with me as much as possible! I do best having a structured schedule as it keeps me in line. As of now, I tend to favor a female 4 legged companion but my volunteer friends will be able to update that later as I continue to work on my socialization and meet new friends! I can’t wait to play fetch with you!
Please visit http://www.coastalk9gsr.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs: https://www.coastalk9gsr.org/team to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact us at information@coastalgsrsd.org or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online application: https://www.coastalk9gsr.org/applications. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
