Tova's Story

Tova would love a home with someone who is experienced with Shepherds and wants an outdoorsy partner to do all the things! She enjoys car rides, long walks, fetch, and shows a propensity towards nose work. She also doesn’t let the day go by without a good belly rub and cuddle session.

She would like a home without cats or small dogs. She has done great for nail trims and basket muzzle training (always a good idea for any dog). She has been quicker to warm up to women, but has easily warmed up to dog-savvy men when approached with patience, high-value treats, and an understanding of consent-based handling.

We believe Tova is a 1-2 year old German Shepherd. She knows sit, shake, walks nicely on a leash, and is house-trained.

Tova went through a tumultuous 2 months, after which, she naturally developed severe separation anxiety. She is currently on medication for separation anxiety, as well as working through Julie Naismith’s Be Right Back app-based training program and membership to Separation Anxiety Heroes FB group. She quickly has progressed to acing 3 hours of alone time!

Her new family should be prepared to establish care with their own veterinarian within the first 30 days and recheck with their veterinarian within 3 months. And likely have follow-ups every 6 months, with lab work done annually.

Tova is current on her core vaccinations, has been microchipped, and spayed.
