Tourmaline's Story

Thanks to a generous supporter, my adoption fee has been fully covered! I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tourmaline, or Tourmie for short.

As many of us know (and for those who may not be aware), Tourmaline is the name of a popular gemstone that comes in many colors, and my particular color is brown.

Not to brag, but when people first meet me, they always think I'm a young lady, but to tell the truth, I'm over 10 years old. It could be that I try to stay in shape (I love long walks and even short runs!). Since it's not polite to ask a lady's weight, I'll tell you that I weigh about 50 pounds. It could be that as much as I like to just cuddle, have my tummy scratched, and generally just be loved (and give it back 10fold).

Speaking of walks, I'm great on a leash. I sometimes do pull a little bit. I get a bit excited when I see other dogs being walked, but they're typically more interested in me than I am in them, so I'll just pass them by. I'm great with ALL humans, even kids!

The only thing I'm not really fond of is being left by myself. I don't make a mess, but I usually spend a couple of minutes calling out your name or asking you not to leave me alone. Of course, because we don't speak the same language, to you, it just sounds like I'm barking.

Otherwise, I'm very easygoing, especially when I'm snuggling, and I'm totally housebroken. I'll sit when I'm told to and stay when I'm told. I don't really like to play tug of war, but I've warmed up to "fetch". I do like to make sure my human is doing OK, so I sometimes follow him/her to whatever room they're in if I notice they're gone. This might be because I was abandoned. I don't really remember how I was treated before I was found, so it could also be from then.

I love the little treats my current human brings with us on walks. They also use them to help teach me new commands when we get back from walks. I'm even allowed to sleep on the bed overnight.

The bottom line is that I'm just a bundle of love looking for someone to love and be loved by!
