Toto #4's Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Toto #4 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our
adoption application
so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours
(please check your spam folder for our emails)
.

Toto #4 | 1-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix | Tiny Shadow and Professional Snuggler

Toto is a 1-year-old, 14-pound Chihuahua mix with a white and brown coat and a sweet, sensitive personality. He’s a playful little guy who quickly bonds with his people and loves being close—whether that means curling up next to you on the couch, resting his head on you for extra pets, or following you from room to room like your own tiny shadow. Toto also has a fun, goofy side and will happily entertain himself (and you) with squeaky toys, little tennis balls, and the occasional happy dance.

Toto is still working on a few basics as he settles into foster life. He’s making progress with house training but still has some learning to do, and he hasn’t quite figured out how to signal when he needs to go outside yet. Leashes are currently a bit scary for him, so walks aren’t his favorite thing right now.

At home, Toto has done well being left alone for several hours with other dogs in the house and has been a very good boy overall. He isn’t currently being crate trained and has been trustworthy when left uncrated. He’s been friendly with the resident dogs in his foster home and enjoys playing with them, though there have been a few minor disagreements around toys or food, so continued guidance around sharing and boundaries will help him keep improving.

Toto has a medium energy level—he enjoys playtime, toys, and short bursts of activity, but he’s equally happy settling down for cuddle time once he’s had a little fun. He responds well to food, toys, and affection as motivation and is slowly gaining confidence as he adjusts to his new routine.

Because leashes are still a little scary for him, Toto would do best in a home with a secure yard where he can comfortably go outside while he continues building confidence. Toto can also be a bit shy and sensitive, so a patient home that will give him time to adjust while working on house training and leash comfort would be ideal. A calm, friendly dog companion could be a great influence, and a quieter household may help him feel more secure as he continues to come out of his shell. With a little time and understanding, Toto’s affectionate nature truly shines—he’s an incredibly sweet, cuddly little dog who loves being close to his person and will happily shower them with love and loyalty.

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Please fill out an adoption application by clicking
here
. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
