Toothpick's Story

Caine AKA - Toothpick earned his name the moment we saw his charmingly crooked little teeth. Behind that unique smile is a dog who has survived a hard past, yet carries himself with the grace of a gentleman. His body bears old scars, and his teeth show signs of trauma, but nothing has dimmed his spirit. Toothpick has chosen trust over fear and connection over shutting down. Whoever failed him before never managed to break the quiet strength in his heart.

Today Toothpick is blossoming into the dog he was always meant to be. He is a cuddly, happy boy who loves being close to his people. He is reserved, nonreactive with other dogs and has already enjoyed easy side by side hikes with the foster pups. He is smart, eager to please, and proud of himself for learning new skills, including sit. He has mingled calmly in large groups at his fosters home, walked confidently around horses, and even joined them at wineries, taking in the world with a hopeful wag.

Toothpick is up for any adventure as long as it means being with his trusted humans. He adores soft beds, kind voices, and the simple comfort of belonging. With gentle routines and patient love he continues to shine, watching his people with soft, grateful eyes as if he knows his life has finally changed.

Toothpick is thought to be around 3 years old. He is ready for a forever family who sees his resilience and treasures his affectionate nature.
