Tonya 's Story

Tonya has been with HERO for a couple months, but is still very shy and nervous of people. We can tell that she wants to trust people and get loved on, but her progress is slow, we believe this is mostly due to the fact that she is in a foster home with many dogs which causes her to be overwhelmed and retreat away from her people and the pack.

Since Tonya is nervous, we would love to see her go to a home with a calmer environment without small children or lots of distractions where she can get plenty of one-on-one attention.

She is mostly crate trained, but will need leash training as she doesn’t get regular walks and her nervousness makes her shy around new activities.

She is also mostly housetrained with a doggy door, but will need work in a home that understands she is still a puppy and training will need to be continued to ensure she becomes fully housetrained.

From experience, we can say that the shy, nervous pups are some of the most loving and velcro dogs once they get the love and attention they need to blossom into their true selves. If you are willing to give love and patience to Tonya, we know she will be happy to return it times 10!

Tonya is about 35-40lbs, 8 months old, spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines.

Tonya currently lives with many other dogs and lives with cats, but has not been in close quarters with cats, so we are not sure if she is cat friendly.

Tonya is in East TN, but can be transported to her forever home.
