Tommy Bahama's Story
**Special Needs Fo-Spice Dog, Please Read for more Info**

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Tommy Bahama and I am estimated to be a 12 year old Pomeranian who is currently about 13 pounds. I should be closer to 16-18 pounds but we are working on that! I came to find the kind people at NBS after being found as a stray in Detroit. I was extremely emaciated and sick. The kind people at NBS took my to the doctoirs right away and now I am on the mend and feeling so much better! I do have some lifelong disease like renal failure, hypothyroidism and diabetes insipidus. These are all treated with daily medications that help me feel so much better! I may be a little more work than a normal dog but I am looking for my special furever home that will care for me and love me for the rest of my days.

**Because of my special needs, the adoption fee for me is WAIVED and all medical needs will be the financially covered by NBS Animal Rescue. You can email these great people at nbsanimalrescue@gmail.com to learn more!!**

I am just looking for someone who is home a lot, will be OK with the fact that I can't hold my number 1's, and will make sure I get my important medications daily paid for and provided by NBS. My special home will be the place that I can snuggle into a warm bed and be reminded everyday that there are wonderful people that will love a dog like me. I have so much love to give.

Though I can't go on far walks, short walks are great. I also love going for car rides. I love treats of all kinds. I also love wandering around the backyard with you on nice days. I am not really into toys at all. But I love being pet and will be happy to curl up at your feet if my dog bed is there. I can't jump on the couch so I promise not to get on any furniture. I also can't really do stairs. I am great with other dogs and cats. I prefer older children as little ones just move to fast for me and may knock an old man like me down!

I needed to get better first, but my dental and neuter surgery is scheduled for April 10th. I was happy to be cleared healthy enough for surgery. Yay!!!

Do you know someone who will love me for the rest of my days?

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 10yrs or older

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is WAIVED and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
