Tommy's Story

Tommy's journey hasn't been easy, but his heart is pure gold. Originally from California, this 2-year-old boy was once on the euthanasia list before a kind rescuer stepped in to save him.

Tommy is already neutered, crate-trained (he won't potty in his crate and does best if let outside right away). He was born with a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, which means he has limited vision. Sometimes when he's nervous, he may circle or seem a little panicked, but a calm, guiding hand quickly reassures him. He also takes glucosamine for occasional joint stiffness.

Tommy enjoys being outdoors and loves a good game of fetch, but when storms roll in, he prefers to be safe inside with his people. He thrives on attention and would do best in an active home without lots of obstacles or commotion. Tommy cannot live with cats or small dogs but would do wonderfully with a calm, confident female dog companion.

Because of his special needs, prior breed experience and knowledge of caring for a blind dog are required. Tommy has come so far already and is ready to find a loving, patient forever home where he can continue to grow, thrive, and share his boundless loyalty.
