Tommie's Story
If you're looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you active, and then happily curl up beside you for cuddles, Tommie may be your perfect match.

Tommie is a 1-year-old terrier mix that came from an overcrowded shelter in southern Illinois. Tommie has been patiently waiting for his forever family since February, and we think it's finally time this sweet boy gets the happy ending he deserves.

Tommie is an adorable combination of playfulness and cuddles. Whether he's carrying a toy around the house or happily attending an afternoon tea party with his four-year-old human friend, Tommie is simply happiest being part of whatever his family is doing. Tommie currently lives in a home with dogs ranging from 5 to 150 pounds and does great with all of them. Tommie also lives with a 4-year-old whom he absolutely adores. Tommie happily enjoys snuggling next to his people and getting pets.

Tommie came to us without much training, but he's incredibly eager to learn and genuinely wants to please his people. He's already making wonderful progress with his basic manners, crate training, and house training. He's still polishing his leash skills, but with consistency and patience, we know he'll continue to thrive.

Tommie would love a family that's ready to include him in daily adventures, playtime, and cuddle time. Like many young dogs, Tommie does best when he has plenty of exercise, enrichment, and opportunities to use both his body and his brain.

Adopters must live within 75 miles of Racine, WI. Adoption fee is $300 plus a $100 deposit for mandatory training classes*. This radius is in place due to ongoing medical care we provide post-adoption.

All dogs are in foster care and are not located in our office. Since all of our dogs are held in private foster homes, we look to have an approved application prior to sending someone to a private residence. If you are interested in adoption, please complete an application. Online applications are located on our H.O.P.E website @ www.hopesafehouse.org.

Upon approval of your application, we will contact you with the foster home phone number to arrange a meet and greet. There is no cost or obligation to apply.

*Basic obedience training classes are required for all dogs at an approved certified training facility of your choice. H.O.P.E. pays $50.00 towards the overall cost of classes. You will be required to leave a $100.00 deposit for training at time of adoption. This deposit is 100% refundable after completing the basic obedience class.

All dogs will be up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neutered*, microchipped and a 30-day health certificate. *If they are too young to be altered, the fee includes spay/neutered at one of our preferred clinics All pets have a lifetime return policy.

Thank you for your interest.
