Tommie's Story
Tommie is a 1-year-old terrier mix that came from an in southern Illinois overcrowded shelter. He loves all people, big and small.

When Tommie came to Hope Safehouse, it was clear he lacked training. He can get a little excited when he is first let out of his crate, but he settles down quickly.

Tommie is receptive to training and really wants to be a “good boy”. He is currently working on basic commands and is doing amazing. He is becoming accustomed in a crate, but he is getting better with it every day. He is also made great strides with his potty training. Leash training is still a work in progress as he still gets very excited on walks and likes to pull and bark. However, we believe that with time and patience, he could also have great leash skills.

Tommie currently lives in a home with dogs ranging from 5 to 150 pounds and does great with all of them. Tommie also lives with a 4-year-old, and he adores her. He will hang out and play dolls and tea party with her for hours. We think Tommie could live with kids of any age. Tommie’s favorite thing to do (when not playing with the little human) is follow you around the house with a toy in his mouth. Tommie also enjoys snuggling next to his people and getting pets. He is an adorable combination of playfulness and cuddles.

Tommie’s ideal home is an active family with other dogs and/or kids for him to play with. Tommie has a lot of energy and is just past the puppy stage and will require daily of stimulation and exercise time. (Bored dogs are potentially destructive!)

Adopters must live within 75 miles of Racine, WI. Adoption fee is $300 plus a $100 deposit for mandatory training classes*.
