She was taken in by animal control after being left outside in a crate during the heat. Due to an ongoing court case - and multiple no-shows by her previous family - Tofu remained in the shelter system for nearly two years waiting for resolution. Through it all, she never lost her sweet spirit.<br/>Once she was finally released, our rescue, CARE, was able to pull her to safety - and she's been blossoming ever since.<br/>Despite everything she's been through, Tofu is incredibly loving and social. Heartworm treatment will be covered at no additional cost to the adopter.<br/><br/>Tofu is in the Paws in Prison program, where she receives basic obedience training. She will graduate from Paws in Prison on 4/25/2026. The dogs in this program are provided basic level training under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. So, there will be an adjustment period as they adjust to their new family schedule.<br/><br/>For this reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive his training journal.
