Once he settles into a routine and knows what to expect, Toby relaxes and enjoys being near his people.<br/><br/>He thrives in calm, predictable environments and does best with adults who appreciate small dogs with strong personalities. Toby does well with other small dogs and bonds closely with the people he trusts.<br/><br/>Toby came to rescue as an owner surrender, and we later learned he has a history of biting when he becomes overwhelmed or when his personal space is invaded (for example, reaching into his crate). Because of this, Toby will need an experienced, adult-only home with someone who understands small-dog boundaries.<br/><br/>The good news is that Toby does very well when those boundaries are respected. He has never bitten his foster mom and has been living successfully in foster care with structure and routine.
