Toby's Story
Toby is a 6-month-old black male Doberman who’s already tipping the scales at 62 lbs—and he’s still growing! This big baby is on track to be a 90–100 lb stunner, but right now he’s all legs and bounce, currently living his best kangaroo phase life. Because Toby is only 6 months old, you must have a fully fenced yard (no e-fence).
Toby is the very definition of a sweetheart. He’ll happily flop over for belly rubs from anyone willing to give them and has already mastered the classic Dobie lean. He's playful, silly, and so affectionate—basically, your future shadow with four paws and a tail.
He hasn’t met a toy he didn’t love! Whether it’s fetch, tug, or solo play, Toby entertains himself easily and is always ready for more fun. He’s smart and a quick learner, already crate trained, house-trained (zero accidents!), and knows how to sit. He’s also great on a leash and polite in the car.
Toby is good with other dogs—he can be a little unsure at first introductions, but he warms up quickly. He’s also great with kids and loves meeting new people. Even at this young age, Toby is showing signs of a confident, possibly alpha personality, so he’ll do best with a family committed to giving him structure, continued training, and lots of love.
Like any puppy, Toby is still learning the ropes—things like manners, taking treats gently, and staying focused—but he understands "no" and really wants to please. With guidance, he’s going to be an exceptional companion.
If you're ready to invest in the future best friend of your life, Toby is ready to bounce into your heart. Toby is being fostered in MD.
DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
