Toby's Story
TOBY - IN A PV FOSTER & LOOKING FOR A LOVING FUREVER HOME

Stray dogs have a difficult life. Surviving on your own; food, shelter, water, safety can be hard to come by. A larger dog might have an easier time protecting itself, but finding the amount of food needed presents a bigger challenge. Such was the situation for this guy, who was on his own. A kind-hearted lady started feeding him and he kept coming back every day, but it was obvious he needed more than the food this lady could provide so she started looking for help and fortunately, when she contacted Nayeli there was an open space in the shelter and she was able to get him off the streets. He was filthy and malnourished, so the first step was to take him to the vet where he got a much-needed bath followed by tests. Fortunately, he was negative for the scary illnesses, so treatment was given for internal and external parasites as well as some vitamins and he was off for a brighter future. He does have a small involuntary movement of his front leg which the vet concluded was a likely a consequence of distemper. He is fully healed, and the tick doesn’t impact him in any way, it is just something that makes him a bit extra special.

Toby is a yellow Lab mix; he is approximately 5 years old and weighs 34 kilos.

Toby is a handsome boy who likes humans of all ages and is friendly with the rest of the dogs of various sizes in the shelter, however, he does not like cats. He rides well in cars and loves his out-of-the-shelter walks every day and especially loves water when they get to play in their pool on hot days. Although Toby is not alpha, he does not like being bossed around by male alpha dogs, so we think he would do best being with a female dog or the only dog in the home. He does not like other dogs getting in his food bowl which is easily fixed by simple separation – a bit of distance in the same room and he’s fine. We would love to see Toby go to a house with either a female dog, kids or an active family as he is very affectionate; he is a large dog with a child’s personality. He is noble and obedient. Please help Toby find his home by sharing his post so his forever family knows he is ready and looking for them.

The adoption fee for Toby is $500 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found.
