Toby's Story

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.

Toby is one of those fosters who walked into his foster home like he’d been there forever. He’s social, people-oriented, energetic, alert, smart, and confidently sassy in all the best ways. He already loves toys, adores attention, and is a big fan of food (he’s a little on the chubby side, but that just makes him extra cute!).

It’s clear Toby was someone’s dog—he came in knowing his manners. He’s house trained with regular outdoor breaks and knows how to sit for treats and meals. In fact, he gets so excited that he ends up standing on his hind legs while he waits!

True to his Pomeranian mix personality, Toby is active and a bit of a talker. He enjoys barking at noises, toys, or just to hear himself, but he settles nicely once he’s in his crate. He’s been great crated at night as well. Because of his vocal nature, apartment living wouldn’t be the best match for him.

Toby would likely enjoy kids who want to play with him. He played well with a small chihuahua mix and, with his confident nature, could likely hold his own with friendly larger dogs. No cat testing yet. He hasn’t been out on walks yet, but we’re sure he’d love the adventure!

Toby is a very happy boy who loves everything and everyone — he’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of personality to his forever home.

The first step in meeting our adoptable animals is the specific application at www.ILDobeRescue.com for a Doberman, Plus dog (non-Dobe), or cat. Approved adopters are then directed to our foster homes.
