Titan's Story

Titan is a brindle baby that is ready to light up your whole world and bring a new meaning to the term "soulmutt!" If you are looking for a medium to large beefcake with ears that flop with every step, this guy is just your match!

HISTORY
Titan came to us as a stray. He was found in Grandview, WA and no one has come forward to claim him. We are estimating his DOB to be October 30, 2025.

Titan is located in Kennewick of Southeast Washington. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip! However, if necessary we will arrange transport to bring him to an approved adoptive home within the Pacific Northwest.

SOCIALIZATION
Titan is shy when he first meets new people and pets, and might even have a little submissive piddle upon first meeting. Once he deems you safe, he is an absolute ham! He enjoys receiving attention from people and other dogs alike. He plays well with the dogs in his foster home, which range from 15 to 100 lbs.

While there are cats in his foster home, he doesn't pay too much attention to them. He sniffs them and lets out a big boy bark from a safe distance and then walks away or finds a trusted adult to keep him safe.

He is friendly with the toddler in the home, but true to his puppy nature, he is very unaware of his nails and teeth being tiny needles. He is working on keeping his paws on the ground rather than jumping up.

He is pretty comfortable in his crate, and doing very well on potty training with someone home often enough to watch for cues and offer potty breaks often.

GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Titan is a blank slate as far as preferences go. He does extremely well doing a 2 hour crate rest at each meal since he is fed in his crate. He also sleeps in it from 9:30 PM to 6:30 or 7:00 AM every night without complaints.

In his foster home, he gets to share an office space with another foster dog and play all day when he is not crate resting or taking a potty break. He really enjoys having the option to play or sleep, and sometimes he does just that!

Since he gets to play with another dog most of the awake hours of his day, his energy seems to be fulfilled. We would call him a middle of the road kind of guy. He would be happy with daily walks once fully vaccinated, or play time with canine companions or humans throughout his day. He's not the kind of dog that you need to plan to exercise with hikes and daily dog play dates with friends, though he may enjoy those things here and there too!

Titan will bark to alert of new noises, people, or animals, and sometimes he gets vocal during play time with his canine housemates, but otherwise he is pretty quiet.

TRAINING
In his foster home Titan is doing fairly well with potty training. He is given access to the yard about every 40 minutes to one hour when he is not in the crate. As mentioned above, he crates over night and for 2 hours at each meal. He has not attended any formal training, but we are working on basic commands and house manners in his foster home every day.

Titan is just a baby, he is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. He'd love you to take him to school so he can learn ALL the skills he needs to be his best self. This would be beneficial for you as his pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with him and teach him to be confident. He is still working on potty training.

It's important to remember: Titan is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little boy is just getting started - he has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as he's concerned, anything and everything is for play. He still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. He will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Titan unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise him right!

HEALTH STATUS
General info
He has started his puppy series of vaccinations, been microchipped, and dewormed. He appears to be in good health. Once full grown, he will likely be somewhere in the 50-70 lbs. range.

HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Titan has not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 6 months old. At your request, HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization at your expense.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Titan is $425. For more pictures of Titan, see his/her Facebook album at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=HearthfireAnimalRescueTeam&set=a.1188409930106761

To apply to adopt Titan, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-79, or email HearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
