Tipper's Story
A058981 Tipper, spayed female Pit Bull/Border Collie mix, approx. 1 year, 49.2 pounds

Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services: (209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Let's meet our newest adoptable dog, Tipper.

Tipper is one of a group of dogs that came to the shelter together. She is of the easier to identify out of the crew of related, look-alike dogs. She still feels separation anxiety when apart from her buddies, but now is able to take comfort in the company of new doggo friends she has met.

She is sweetly affectionate with people once she gets to know them, but seems still to need canine pals to feel truly secure. She does bond beautifully with the humans she trusts, however, so we'd guess that given time to settle into her new home she'll relax and feel at ease.

Out on walkies, Tipper is gentle on leash. She sometimes will startle at very loud sounds or shy away from noisy traffic. She'll melt into our legs or cuddle up to another dog for reassurance. This is a sensitive, tender-hearted dog in need of patient, loving treatment. A dog sibling she can bond with would probably be her ideal situation.

Tipper has made friends with every dog we've introduced her to, including some that have been reactive to almost all other dogs. Her gentle soul seems to shine forth, making even reactive dogs feel safe and welcome her company. Now, if we could only convince Tipper that she herself is quite safe, as well! We do think she'll relax into a loving home and trust it as her sanctuary, once she bonds with her new family.

We don't have info on Tipper's attitude toward cats at this time.

Tipper keeps her inner kennel pretty tidy. That's a hopeful sign that she will take to housetraining.

. A meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
