Tilda's Story

**Tilda is currently located near Edson, AB**

Hi there, I’m Tilda! I’m about 2 years old and only 40lbs, so if you’re looking for a smaller gal to spoil, I just might be the one! I was a stray in the community before coming to PAWS, so not much is known about the first couple years of my life. I have had a couple litters of puppies but am now spayed and ready to find a home to settle into!

I am a very timid girl, but once I warm up to you I’ll never want to leave your side! The staff and volunteers all agree I'm worth taking the time to get to know! I need time to get to know new people and explore new places at my own pace. My future family may have to meet me a couple times before I'm comfortable saying hello. I am learning from the staff and volunteers at PAWS that new experiences can be really wonderful, and I’m starting to trust a few people to help guide me in facing my fears.

While I’ve gotten used to being indoors, I’m much more confident and comfortable outdoors, so I'd love a yard to call my own. I walk pretty well on the leash and I learn more every day. I trust my dedicated walkers to show me the ins and outs of the outside world and I only grow more confident as I explore more of the neighborhood!

I’ve seen a few cats out and about and I don’t pay them much mind, but I don’t know how I’d like them in a home, as I do have a high prey drive towards small animals. I am very selective about the dogs I like, so I need to be the only pup in the home. The staff think I would be okay with older children who understand to respect my boundaries as we get to know each other.

I’ve also been introduced to these things called “toys”, and now I'm starting to enjoy playtime along with daily walks and training! Learning commands is a work in progress, as I've just started to really trust the humans around me, but I've learned "sit", "down", "touch", and more! I’m a smart girl so with patience I know I’ll learn so much more with the right family! I enjoy cuddling with the staff in the evening, and am dreaming of the day I have a family all to myself! Providing Animals With Safety for Life Foundation's Adoption Policy
So... you think you have what it takes to adopt? Getting a puppy or a new dog is an exciting moment in a person's life. Dogs truly become part of our family, which is why here at PAWS, we are dedicated to helping pets stay in their forever homes through our application vetting process. We carefully review each application in search of the best match for every dog that comes into our care. Let's talk commitment! Getting a dog means giving them unconditional love and fulfilling all of their needs for the rest of their lives. The basics include love, food, water and shelter - but there is so much more! Be sure you have plans for things like: what will you do with your pet when you go on vacation?, are you able to afford veterinary costs?, and are you willing to take your new dog in for force-free training? If you're ready, we'd love to hear from you! Fill out an application today!
