Tika's Story
Tika is such a sweet 6 yr. old active girl. She is VERY inquisitive, can be stubborn, and is forever exploring. This includes being able to stretch to get into things she can reach on tables. She is a jumper and nothing less than a 5ft. block wall all the way around is required. She is an indoor/outdoor dog. Since she is a door dasher, we are looking to adopt Tika within the Tucson area. Children under age 6 or an adult unstable on their feet would not be a good fit for her. Tika needs a family to take her on daily walks and would benefit from having another active dog to play with. NO cats! She loves to ride in a car and is good on a leash. She's ok in a crate but not more than a few hours a day, due to separation anxiety. She is potty trained using a doggie door.

Tika is being treated for Valley Fever, since 2024. Her titer has recently been staying at 1:2 with medication which she will most likely always need. An adopter must schedule regular Vet appointments to check her Titer level and other bloodwork. Tika became ill with masticatory muscle myositis, and we took her off our adoption list while that was being worked up. This is now being treated with Prednisolone. An adopter must schedule regular Vet appointments to check her bloodwork for this. This medication makes her hungry 24/7 and she is always in search of food. She will steal it from another dog, any area she can reach, including your hands.

If you are interested in adopting sweet Tika or have any questions about her, please fill out an application on the Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue website. We consider applications on a first come first serve basis, however, we will also consider the best placement for Tika.
