Thor's Story
Kids - possibly older teenagers
Cats - No
Dogs - possibly well matched female
Specific Needs - only applications with experience will be reviewed, not for first time dog owner.

Update - Thor has come so far and it's amazing to see the change in him since his arrival. He's a much more confident dog and loves to go for walks and is great on leash. Sometimes he's a bit unsure of new people for a minute but warms up quickly and it's even quicker if you have treats! He's made some female dog friends and is a very rough player so would need to be well match in a home with a dog.

The only hurdle we haven't overcome yet is his dislike of cars. It's not something we can work with as easily in the shelter but we do our best. Once he's in the car he does ok but it's clear he hasn't been in vehicles much.

*

Thor arrived at the shelter at the very end of December and needed some time before he was ready to start looking for his home. Thor was extremely timid, dirty and clearly in need of some TLC. With some patience, behaviour medication and time we are so proud of how far Thor has come! We suspect that he wasn't exposed to the world much as just about everything seemed overwhelming including leashes and collars. We are pleased to report that he went for his first solo walk after getting a little help from Peach to show him leashes weren't such a big deal.

Once he settled in and got to know us we discovered that Thor is extremely affectionate and loves to snuggle. He will jump all over you in excitement and then shower you with kisses. Meeting new people can still be a bit overwhelming but he's gaining confidence all the time.

The ideal home for Thor will have experience with dogs, and know how to keep moving forward with confidence building and socializing in a positive way.
