She came to DASH almost a year ago with several other dogs who all had been what we believe was a backyard breeding situation. She came with her two pups, who have both found their forever homes. Thistle is very shy and has been working on coming out of her shell at her foster home. She has come such a long way, but is still very independent and would prefer to just be within eyesight of her foster mom is, but not in her lap. She does come up for pets, but only on her terms. She can be very vocal at times, but that's just her way of letting you know she's excited to start the day or to see you at the end of the day if you've been gone. She loves playing fetch with stuffed toys in the fenced in backyard and has mastered the doggie door to go out to potty or just relax outside. She will sleep in bed with her foster mom and some other doggies, but she does get up and down at times, just to get some space. She allows herself to be brushed and her nails trimmed and did extremely well at her grooming appointment. She would love another confident dog in her new home to help her be comfortable and to learn the ropes there. Due to her shyness, she has not been leash trained, and she can scale a 4 foot fence with ease. She did meet the fosters grandchildren and would not let them get close, but also did not mind them being in the same space as her. She has not been cat tested. She needs a person who understands just how special she is and that once she knows she's safe with you, she will be your lifetime shadow and special friend.
