Tex's Story

Meet Tex! 🤠🐾

Tex’s story started in Texas, where a busy shelter reached out for help for one very special dog. Tex, a handsome three-year-old German Shepherd weighing about 55 pounds, had a deformed front leg that would need amputation and was also heartworm positive. Despite the odds stacked against him, everyone who met Tex knew he was something special—and they were right.

After getting the medical care he needed, Tex is now a proud three-legged survivor who has bounced back beautifully! He’s fully recovered from his amputation and finishing up the last stage of his heartworm treatment. Like many tripod pups, Tex doesn’t let having three legs slow him down one bit.

True to his German Shepherd roots, Tex is smart, loyal, and full of personality. He loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is always happy to be part of whatever his humans are doing. According to a previous foster, one of Tex’s favorite activities is snuggling up on the couch for some quality cuddle time after a day of fun.

While Tex is a big fan of humans and dog friends, he’d prefer a home without cats.

Tex has overcome a lot in his young life, but his spirit has never wavered. Now all he needs is a forever family who will give him the love and stability he deserves. In return, Tex promises a lifetime of loyalty, companionship, and plenty of couch cuddles.

Ready to give this resilient, loving tripod the happy ending he’s been waiting for? Tex can’t wait to meet you! 🐶❤️
