Tessie weighs in at about 50-55 lbs and is what most would call a turnkey dog. She is spayed, housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, is low energy (unless a chipmunk or squirrel invades the yard), and really just wants to be with her people. She barely ever makes a peep. She is a true people dog and loves nothing more than to snuggle. She knows 'sit' and 'shake' and ‘come.’ Tessie is a happy girl, and the vet estimates her age to be somewhere between 2 and 5 - a wide range. <br/><br/>Tessie has an old injury to her back leg - likely a injury that was never repaired as a puppy. It doesn’t slow her down a bit, especially if she needs to chase a chipmunk. The orthopedist said that it wasn’t fixable at this point, but as long as it doesn’t bother her, she should be fine. She goes for daily walks that are about a mile long with no trouble. She’ll never be a running companion, but she says running is overrated anyway. <br/><br/>Tessie is good with other dogs and is currently with three other dogs of varying ages, sizes, and temperaments. She would do well with another low-energy dog, but she also would be good as an only dog - she would love to have ALL the attention! She is non-destructive and will be in the same position you leave her in if you go to the grocery store.<br/><br/>Tessie does have prey drive, so she shouldn’t be in a house with cats. She will sit for hours and watch birds and squirrels out the window. <br/><br/>Tessie would do better in a home with older children and adults. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.<br/><br/>PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time. <br/><br/>Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.<br/><br/>The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue. <br/><br/>We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
