Tessa's Story

Hi, I’m Tessa

I’m a gentle, loving girl with a calm and mellow nature. In new or unfamiliar environments, I can be a little nervous at first, but once I feel safe—especially at home—I warm up quickly and become very friendly with new people. Give me a bit of time, and you’ll see my sweet personality shine through.

I’m quiet, relaxed, and happy to lounge around the house. I do great when left alone, sleep peacefully in my crate, and have had no accidents in the home. I’m very food motivated (treats are the key to my heart!) and already know my name well. While I’m still gaining confidence with the outside world and leash training, I’ll happily follow my people with a little encouragement.

I’ve been around other dogs and do best when my personal space is respected. I tend to prefer male dogs and would likely be happiest as an only dog, or possibly with a calm, compatible canine companion in a home that understands my needs.

One important thing to know about me: I do resource guard my food and water. As long as I’m given space while eating and other dogs are kept away, there are no issues. This is very manageable with structure and understanding, and I do well when my boundaries are respected.

I have a medium-low energy level and enjoy a peaceful routine rather than constant activity. I love pets and affection (even if I’m not quite a cuddler yet), and I’m content just being near my people.

My ideal home is calm and patient—someone who understands that trust takes a little time and who can respect my space around food. In the right environment, I’m a truly loving, easygoing companion ready to settle in and feel safe.

Tessa was born approximately February 2022 and is a large dog
