He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 12 pounds. He was a stray in the Norfolk area who was picked up by animal control and taken to the shelter. Upon intake Terry was noted to have difficulty walking and his leg was swinging from the hip joint. He was in some pain as well.

After completing their intake tasks the shelter obtained x-rays. Poor little Terry had a broken hip, most likely from being hit by a car. We inquired about Terry and learned he was scheduled for an amputation surgery Friday, June, 4th. We asked if that was his only option. And, luckily, it was not. He could also have FHO Surgery but the shelter could not afford it. They would only consider amputation.

Terry is a young dog and we did not want to see him amputated if possible. He is now comfortable in our foster moms home, receiving pain medication and resting up for his surgery. So far he has been very sweet. He is seeking attention and playing with toys as well. He is very happy to be out of the stressful, shelter environment.

Terry will have FHO surgery along with his neuter on Monday. Terry will need some recovery time but small, active dogs recover very quickly from this surgery. If you are interested in donating to his care please use the links below to help out.
