Teddy's Story
Meet Teddy – Brilliantly Trained, Deeply Misunderstood

Teddy is a 2-year-old hound mix who may be one of the most well-trained dogs you’ll ever meet—truly. He knows his commands flawlessly, walks like a professional on leash, and listens better than just about any dog out there. His training foundation is rock solid.

Teddy first came into rescue in 2023 as a young pup searching for someone who truly understood him. He spent the last year in a home he believed was his forever, but unfortunately, consistent training and structure were not maintained, and Teddy found himself back in rescue through no fault of his own.

Teddy does have some quirks that require an experienced, committed adopter. He struggles with resource guarding, particularly with high-value items like sticks (and, honestly, just about anything he decides is valuable). Because of this, Teddy needs a home that understands management is key no access to high-value items, and clear boundaries around privileges like couches and human beds, which must be earned and structured.

With the right person, someone who understands training, structure, and leadership, Teddy will absolutely thrive. He is not a “project,” but he is a dog who needs consistency and understanding to feel secure. In return, you’ll get an incredibly smart, loyal, and capable companion who truly deserves a forever home that won’t give up on him.

His ideal house would be adult only or older kids, no other dogs, or cats.

Teddy isn’t for everyone but for the right person, he could be everything.

To be considered must apply at : buddyandfriendsma.org
