Teddy's Story

Who is TEDDY? Where has this cutie been?

Well, Teddy has been laying low, living at the Columbus House these past few years—Poverty’s Pets’ safe house for our rescue dogs. And seriously…isn’t he the cutest fella you’ve ever seen?

So how did Teddy end up with us? Teddy was E-listed at County, and his intake notes weren’t favorable. He was labeled “aggressive” toward both humans and dogs. But when one of our volunteers spotted him, we scooped him up anyway—because, well, look at that face—and we hoped county had it wrong… and they pretty much did.

When Teddy arrived, he had a large gash on his mushy little nose. The notes said he had been transported with a catch pole, which caused the injury. It’s safe to say Teddy was terrified, and being pulled around by a pole around the neck is no way to treat a scared dog.

Since then, Teddy has become a beloved member of the Poverty’s Pets Columbus House. He’s been a friend to many dogs, and most of all, he’s been deeply loved by Josh and Connie, who have cared for him over the past three years.

But now, things are changing. Josh and Connie are moving on from the Columbus House, and while they had hoped to bring Teddy with them, unfortunately that’s not possible. So now, for the first time, Teddy is looking for a forever home of his own.

Teddy appears to be a Shar-Pei mix—those wrinkles, that squishy face, and his one-of-a-kind look definitely make him a bit of a celebrity wherever he goes.

Teddy is a total kissy monster and quite the conversation piece. Everybody loves him. He’s very, very unique-looking, with a fun, slightly snarky personality that makes him unforgettable. We estimate he’s around 7 years old. He will thrive with another dog social dog, and older kids. We have not tested Teddy with cats.

Over the years, Teddy has had many doggie pals and currently shares his space with two other dogs. He does great on a leash, loves car rides, and is a top-tier couch potato and snuggler. If you’re interested in adopting this borderline senior, Teddy will fill your home with laughter and your heart with love. His adoption donation is $200 and an application is a must: https://povertyspets.org/application/. Once received, you will be contacted within 72 hours.
