TEDDY
Located in holland landing, ON
Breed: flat coated retriever x border collie cross
Weight: He is approximately 50 lbs.
Good with dogs: Teddy ignores small dogs and likes to wrestle with bigger dogs. Teddy does best with submissive dogs or dogs that can recognize when he has had enough of playing. He does best with slow introductions after decompressing for 3 days minimum (alone) - we have many videos of him with other dogs and even at a dog park! He loves to play.
Good with cats: No
Good with kids: Teddy would do best in a home without children or children 13+ (currently fostered with a 14 year old and he loves her!!)
Housetrained: Yes.
Crate Trained: no, but working on it. He will go in to eat, but is scared if the door is closed. Fosters continue to work toward crate training!
Leash Trained: Teddy is great on the leash. He requires the occasional reminder not to pull but responds very quickly to corrections. He knows basic commands like sit and down. He knows to stay until he is told “free”. As well he knows “place”. He takes treats very gently
Energy level: Medium
Health Concerns: None
HW status: Negative
Spay/neutered?: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Fun Facts:
great on treadmill
runs well alongside a bike
lives with 3 dogs and plays well
patiently waits for treats and has shown no food aggression for treats (we feed meals separately)
sleeps in bedroom very calm all night and waits for people to wake up
Tell us about this dog: Teddy is a great dog but he is not for first time dog owners. He is extremely lovable and is always happy to see you. He has a few quirks worth noting. First off, he has springs as feet! This boy can jump. He would make an excellent agility or watersport competitor. Secondly, when he wags has tail his entire backend moves - he has a wiggly butt. It is absolutely adorable.
He wants to please and is a quick learner. On going training would be extremely beneficial to both Teddy and his future adopters to help them both bond and understand each other's needs and expectations.
**Teddy will come with 1 month of free virtual or in-person (depending on location) training to help his adoption be successful!
Ideally Teddy’s home will be with people who are home a lot, minimal time alone. However, when left outside of crate he is not destructive so if you want to bypass crate use altogether, he is your dream dog!!
Just trying to think of things that might set him apart.
