Teddy's Story
Why choose me?
Update: I had the pleasure of spending another day with Teddy yesterday! We started out bright and early at the Dawg Jog where he really opened up to his new people friends and fans! He also was so sweet with the other dogs.
Afterwards we went to chikfila for a pup cup and walked around at pittard park. We finished the day by resting in the shade of a tree in the park.
Teddy is really the perfect friend- he's good with other dogs, polite, friendly to people (who know how to approach a shy dog), already knows commands and likes adventures!
I know he will flourish outside of the shelter environment!
* * *
Teddy's Doggy-Day-Out: Meet Teddy ! Teddy is a 2 year old boy currently staying at the Athens Clarke co animal shelter. He is also nearly an identical twin of my dog Carl!
Teddy is a shy and gentle buddy. He gets scared in his kennel and sometimes hides, but with treats and patience, he can be persuaded to come out. He is actually great on his leash and seemed to love car rides- he jumped right in!
We walked for a few miles on the greenway where we passed other dogs, bikes and lots of people, all with no issue. He enjoyed all the new smells of nature!
We stopped to rest at cafe racer where Teddy sat nicely despite all the people, other dogs and noise. He behaved so nicely, I let him have a little bit of my ice cream cone ??.
We also worked on sit and lie down commands. He picks up on things quickly and responds well to verbal direction.
After all that, we returned to my house to rest. I can tell Teddy will be a great snuggle buddy once he is adopted!
If you want an easy going dog who likes to go on adventures, Teddy is your guy! He just needs to be given a chance to shine outside of the shelter!

Teddy is shy and scared to be at the shelter and often runs to the back of his kennel when you stop at his gate. He wants to come out but just isn't sure about all the barking that surrounds him. Once I had him leashed, he was fine walking with me to the interaction pen.

Of course, my camera scared Teddy, too, so his pictures were taken while he was on the move. When I put it away and sat on a bench, Teddy came to me and let me pet him. He also lay beside me, but as soon as I got up, he did, too, and started running again. Another volunteer has been sitting with Teddy in his kennel and said he likes to cuddle and knows how to sit and lie down for treats. He's a sweet boy and will thrive in a quiet, loving home.

You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
