Ted's Story

Ted is ready for his forever family!

Meet Ted!
Age: ~1.5–2 years

Ted is a big, sweet, and gentle boy with a submissive nature and a heart full of love. He takes a little time to warm up, but once he does, he is a sweet dog who likes to be right by your side.

Ted does great with dogs of all sizes and is also cat-friendly. He's been the BEST foster daddy to two small puppies and is very gentle playing with them. He hasn't been around kids yet, but because he can be a bit skittish and doesn't always realize how big he is when he gets excited, he would likely do best in a home with older children or a family who understands that he's not intentionally rough—just enthusiastic.

He is house trained and walks fairly well on leash (unless a squirrel makes an appearance). Ted could use some basic obedience training, but is starting to learn basic commands in his foster home. Ted recently discovered how fun toys and playtime can be, and while he occasionally mistakes things like his foster mom's slipper for a toy, he's easily redirected to appropriate alternatives.

Ted was an owner surrender to a shelter and spent several weeks in a kennel. Because of this he has some confinement anxiety. If crated with other dogs in the room, he settles within about 5–10 minutes and does just fine. At night, when not crated, he happily sleeps in a dog bed at the foot of the bed.

Ted would do best in a moderate to active home that understands shepherds—though he's fairly laid-back for one and will take the time to work with him on building his confidence. Another dog is a must, as having a canine companion helps him feel safe and secure.
