Meet Tchoup (Chop)
House & crate trained
Good with dogs
Good with cats
Good with older kids (no small children)
This is 8 year old Tchoup. (Chop) was surrendered to a Louisiana shelter by the family that had owned him since he was a puppy. Yes he is named after the New Orleans Street - Tchoupitoulas. He came to us with a very painful neck injury either suffered in his original home or when he was picked up by animal control. Tchoup had not had medical care in many years but shockingly he did NOT have heart worms. Small miracles! Our vet took extensive x-rays to rule in or out a degenerative disc disease (Wobblers) which sometimes Dobermans are known to have. We had those radiographs read by a specialist and were heartened by the report that ruled out Wobblers. Tchoup has been on medications for his neck injury and laying low in his cushy foster home for about a month now and has improved a lot. Tchoup has suffered a lot of neglect over the years and grateful for every thing he has now. He is currently being fostered with a senior female and a senior kitty. Tchoup is a smiler and these days he is flashing his smile a little more each day.
If you are interested in giving a sweet old guy a home, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.gulfcoastdobermanrescue.org
A visible fenced yard, good veterinary history, and home check are required to adopt. We adopt to LA, MS, AL, and the panhandle of FL only- no exceptions.
