TAZ's Story

Taz (A137228) is a 4-year-old Chow Chow who weighed nearly 45lbs on intake! 12/27/25 This fluffy gal is Taz! She arrived at the shelter with her brother Mojo and they are both now looking for their new places to call home! Taz has overall been a good girl throughout her stay at the shelter. If you are unfamiliar with chows, we highly recommend researching the breed prior to adopting. Chows are known for being loyal and protective dogs. Taz had double entropion surgery on her eyes, so she is sporting an interesting look and seeing the world through a whole new perspective. She also went out for a dental, courtesy of the amazing Shelter Fund, and had seven teeth extracted! She should be fed a soaked diet until January 12th while her gums heal. We do not know Taz’s experience level with children or other animals. While at the shelter, she has generally done well with the dogs in kennels nearby, but has had the occasional barking spat. It is very important to introduce her to other dogs in a way that helps set her up for success – slow, safe, and controlled. She did previously live with Mojo and did well! Please also use caution if planning to introduce her to cats or other small animals. We have found that Taz would get a little grumbly with her cone of shame coming on and off her head, so she may do best in a home without small children that may not understand boundaries. If you are interested in meeting Taz, please let us know!
